What the layers show
- Sea depth: the bands under the islands are the real sea floor from the GMRT grid, from the shallow platform the islands sit on to the 3,000 m deep water around it. The platform is why the sea between Santa Cruz and Baltra is turquoise and the crossing to Isabela is rough.
- Ferries and flights: the three public speedboat routes out of Puerto Ayora (orange, animated) and the inter-island flights between Baltra, San Cristóbal and Isabela (white).
- Visitor sites: 14 places you can reach on a land-based trip, each with its own page: North Seymour, Bartolomé, Santa Fe, South Plaza, Pinzón, Kicker Rock and more.
- Wildlife: where each animal is easiest to see; each pin links to its "where and when" page.
- Volcanoes: summit heights measured from the elevation grid: Volcán Wolf 1,670 m, Cerro Azul 1,650 m, La Cumbre (Fernandina) 1,440 m, Volcán Darwin 1,370 m.
